Nursery

Lodge Lane Nursery is open Wednesday to Sunday, 10am to 5pm. The nursery specialises in hardy herbaceous perennials, plants which normally grow and flower between March and October, then die back each winter, sometimes vanishing completely below ground level. But we don’t get too hung up on definitions and we include grasses, bamboos, clematis, honeysuckles, many bulbs and some shrubs.

The current plant listing ranges from popular to choice and unusual. Most are produced are propagated from the Nursery's own plant material and many are in the garden, shown off to their best in their mature state.

Not sure what you want? Drop in and ask for advice – we love to help you find the perfect plant for that tricky spot. Weekdays are best for a chat as the weekends can be very busy.

EVEN GREENER!: Looking to buy more environmentally friendly plants? Here's our evironmental policy:

Peat-free compost. New Horizon compost is peat free and organic and we use it for 99% of our plants - you can buy the compost from us as well

Completely organic. We use liquid chicken manure and seaweed as fertiliser, and only organic pesticides such as fatty acid soap spray. We don't use weedkiller and rely on handweeding so we do hope you will forgive us for a less than totally weedfree nursery!

Biodegradable plant potsWe are introducing VIPOT biodegradable plants pots now for all our 2008 stock to reduce our plastic waste. You will be able to buy them from us as well.
